SPRINGER DIY IMPROVEMENTS

Recommended Posts

If you dont have access to a lathe what DIY work can you do to a springer to improve on its performance with out buying parts in, for example what parts can you make yourself. Not interested in increasing the power but making the gun run smoother,  quieter and consistent.

A lathe is not necessary to tune spring guns, all the polishing and de burring  can be done with the use of an electric drill, wet and dry, and metal polish, improved piston seals, buttoning, and even cylinder cross hatching can be done without a lathe, add to this decent kits like Vortek etc a hell of a lot can be done to improve the firing cycle of spring rifles.

If you are not interested in increasing the power, all you can really do is make things a little smoother, in some cases it may also improve accuracy but whatever you do you only have 12ft lb to start with and whilst that can achieve good results its still just 12ft lb.

As mentioned above, people tend to over grease/oil thinking this will help, whilst on the whole it will have a negative effect, you need just enough, then stop!
