Ive about gave up on reading mole trapping articles, it all seems so easy half the time. If you can go to four or five houses a day, have a cup of tea and a natter while you set half a dozen traps bef

Get your selfs into a factory if catching moles is such a miserable existence, it's only a few f***ing moles.

Steady away there’s worse jobs to do,

Why would you respect someone who wants to see your livelihood severely restricted?

This man wanted to impose daily trap checking on the mole catching industry when the vast majority didnt want it. He went as far as trying to do things behind closed doors, until things were brought out into the open for all to see.

The man is dangerous to all mole catchers and should be watched very very carefully.

Iol,.....thanks , & I'm fully aware,.....his is a flawed concept, but,....well intentioned. & my "livelihood severely restricted" ? ,.....i doubt it, cause i just won't let it apply ? & "dangerous to all mole catchers"  ?? well that's your opinion,..but I feel no threat, personally ?

I bought one of his books years ago. Quite interesting in terms of the history of mole catching, but as a reference on techniques, not worth the paper.

Aye, a don't fully understand your last part ? ,...& it doesn't matter who shows you how to do it, methods are rarely 'set in stone' ?

Oh, forgive me, I think I get you now ?,...well his "techniques" obviously work for him ? (& I've already addressed your point, I think ? Iol)

I wish him no ill-will.

I don't think ours is a game that can really be taught, anyway. You only learn it through getting your hands dirty.

JN has done a lot to raise the public profile of the mole catcher: I'm grateful for that.

Lol me too.

The one that gets my back up are self anointed 'gurus' who start up these 'trade associations' which are really only about self promotion at the expense of others in the form of subscriptions.

Or am I being cynical?

Catching moles is a piece of piss. Catching enough day in day out year after year and making it pay isn't. So it's easier to sell books, traps, courses and associations.

His book was crap, if you couldn't catch a mole before you wouldn't be able to after. I think it didn't even cover the basics.

At one time the mole catching job got silly with all the newspaper articles and ten Bob millionaires. Fair play to those that played the game but some of em actually believed it.

Very well put.

You're right. The real art in molecatching is making a viable business out of it.
