Much needed...

Recommended Posts

... practice, I said I needed to spend some time with the WMR as I was struggling a bit with it the other day.

I visited a place with good rabbits and soon got into some good hunting.

Off hand squirrel shots from 15-60yds from the same spot was encouraging.

Next up was a rabbit. I was above them as they ran into brambles. It took a while but I finally glasses that little black piece of coal, an eye. Next I found a tiny window to squeeze the bullet through.

An off hand shot at 50yds or so.

The next rabbit was closer and I neck shot it. I found the bullet in the turf.

Had a great afternoon and with the camera too.

How do you find the wmr? I had one for a short time, but seriously couldn't get to grips with it accuracy wise.

Bought a Brno lr and never looked back.

As soon as I got it bedded better in the stock and free floated the barrel it is no longer ammo fussy and is capable of 1"size groups or there abouts at 100yds with the few types of ammo tried by me.

To be fair I was quite new to the firearms scene back then. Possibly the barrel was shot out, ammo fussy?

However before I sold it on it did account for a few foxes, admittedly at only around fifty yards at which the rifle would produce an inch to an inch and a half group.

It would be quite difficult to shoot a WMR barrel out buddy!

WMR just about creates substantial barrel harmonics. LR is very mute in the barrel harmonics/vibrations and that is why shoddy inletting has no effect on accuracy or any loose barrel contact with the stock.

Use the WMR in the same action and poor inletting and due to the more intense firing the harmonics are disrupted and the bullet leaving the muzzle finds itself leaving the muzzle in a different spot each shot!

Not much buddy no. Probably a pint of bear if out. A glass at home with the Mrs in summer after work. Three to four bottles of whisky, brandy or rum a year.
