Pellet recommend

Recommended Posts

Hi all, As the rifle that I use is not pellet fussy, what would you lot recommend ?

I have seen these  H-N-SPORT-BARACUDA-HUNTER-177-CALIBRE-AIR-RIFLE-PELLET. 4.5  10.34 Grains

and I am currently using these  H-N-Field-Target-Trophy-177-Air-Rifle-Gun-Pellets. 4.5  8.64 Grains

or shall I go for something like these ? Gamo-Pro-Hunter-177-DOMED-PELLETS  4.5  7.56 Grains

It will be for hunting and targets , so looking for a allrounder.

Thx all.

Pellet testing is fun - I still like to do it from time to time.

I think it's generally best to avoid the cheaper brands. More established brands like JSB, H&N, AA etc, will be better quality.

If you've got a decent lead diablo pellet that works well, I'd keep that as the one for all hunting and target shooting.

That said, the 2 gimmicky type pellets that I found to work well are Baracuda Hunter Extreme and Polymag shorts.

...... Both have been accurate to around 40yrds in a few of my rifles.

My ultra absolutely loves the H&N Baraccuda hunter extreme in .177 give them a try mate, it also loves AA field, both produce equally minute groups, and if needed I can switch pellet with only a slightly lower impact on the Baraccuda's being a bit heavier 9.57 gn apposed to 8.44, give them both a go, but avoid cheap crap like gamo mate.

a couple i would recommend. My rifle is rather pellet fussy but I have found comfortable groupings with Falcon Accuracy Plus, JSB exacts and also H&N Barracuda. I have to admit I tried the H&N barracuda Hunter Extreme pellets recently. Cracking little pellets. For a hollow point and for the weight of them I was pleasantly surprised at the groupings I was getting. They were really on the money and if your gun doesn't like heavier pellets they are fantastic (but watch out for even the slightest breeze).

As Jonjon said, pellet testing is fun. Grab yourself a couple of the different "field test" packs they sell, H&N do one, I think JSB do one, Bisley do one. They give you like 100 pellets of like 5 different types and are great for getting a feel for what works best.

cheers
