went and had a go on some rape this afternoon 17/01/2018   after been laid up with flue. The weather was terrible rain snow and blowing a gale i would have give it a miss but its new perm so i showed willing only managed 16 for 22 shots and picked 15 .i started off with plastic shells and 2 floaters which i placed rely low in a wheeling so they were bobbing up and down out of sight one minute then up in the air the next this seemed to work as the decoyed pigeons where heading for the floaters started at 1.20pm and finished at 3.40pm rely slow but farmer happy

 

 

 went out on the rape again this afternoon 22/01/2018 carried the equipment about 200 yards too claggy for the fishing trolley.the field as been striped in places so i picked a spot where i have seen the pigeons late afternoon on a previously recky. i had the magnet out with 2 floaters rely low . the wind was blowing towards me so i was on the edge of the tree line and the birds decoyed up the side and not over the top of me which worked perfect ended up with 35 the field was like a bog you can see the water in the pic and they wasn't bothered about  getting wet feet  farmer well pleased ps i didnt take  a magic ff5 as i would be carrying well over 100 birds back  with muddy feet lol

Good shooting Archie. Everywhere is either boggy as hell or frozen over at the moment. I was stood still for about 20 minutes when I was out the other day and the water around my boots had started to freeze when I finally moved! Good result though, lovely looking dog too!

after yesterdays ferreting session i was talking to the farmer and he informed me  he has 8 fields all rape all in the same plot so went and had a look today and there was plenty of pigeons there   so should be having a  good do the bonus is  no walking as all the fields  are accessible  by tracks  each side of the edges
