Ferreting - The Good&Bad Longnets

Nice video Doug, enjoyed it. Your mention of Bacchus Marsh and the Werribee River bought back a few memories from a few years back as me and the old girl used to take the grandkids to Presidents Park and the Historical Park along Heaths Road and have a stroll along the river. A very pretty river I might add.

Thz MG glad you enjoyed it,was out again this morning, got a few, just got back, that stretch of the river is undrinkable now, I wouldn't even swim in it, still looks nice though.

There have been many different styles of manufactured Long Net basket.

I've tried several and in doing so, the problems stand out a mile, as do the modifications.

Daily usage amidst the field of battle,  usually produces fresh ideas and further improvements.

Personally, I enjoy the feel of my traditional Hemp long nets, especially after dark,...

However,  when running out yards and yards of nylon sheet netting, the old basket system is really useful...and other than flinging down a pocketful of purse nets to cover awkward bolt holes, I doubt that I've bothered with the wee flams for a decade...

The Stop net and miscellaneous varieties of Ditch nets have made the job, so much easier...
