I think the seasons are messed up with hardly any definition, winters are mild and wet ,fooling the plants and birds ,spring is an extension with late frosts to catch out the unwary veg gardener

Arnt snowdrops always January no signs of spring up here very much like winter lol

All the flowers started growing in December then we had a month of frost them it started snowing  , the snows no bad it insulated the ground  but this year the seasons are totally screwed up

Did you swat the blighter? It would have been a queen, looking to get out and find a nesting place. I'm allergic to wasp stings and destroy them and all wasps at every opportunity. I know that they take loads of pest Insects but  not anywhere around me.
