Did you ever take any of the farm collies out in the forest blocks?

One and she took to the hunting part well. Not catching, just following her nose.

Ever since, she has been into it. Will run the lamp, or at least the headlights of the truck / quad mostly, but I've taken her lamping a couple of times, just for a few runs. She will catch rabbits.

Down side, is she's a complete liability with bloody deer, which is embarrassing when you work on large country estates for a living.

Aye i use the gps thats why i like doing this sort of thing now no more worries of losing dogs never to be seen again !

obviously its better if they brought up on it but accidents can still happen cant they just like everywhere else. Was more after how you lads like your dogs to work fo you loose them and they fly off do you walk along and they bump things in front of ya and all that.

Generally I follow the dogs within reason, unless I know good spots or see something they don't.

GPS is a good thing and it's good to let the dogs range, but you miss the action.
