An old seasoned battler does not deserve this nor any old person for that matter. At least they have caught the attacker and no doubt he hopefully will have a welcoming committee once he goes inside .

Hope the escorting police or prison guards tell the whole van what he did & he gets torn apart in prison. f***ing horrendous but some do goody brief will take his case hoping to make a name for themselves. Bloke who did it should be hung. Poor old fella at 96 the psychological damage will prob kill him & after surviving all he went through in the war etc. Absolutely horrendous cowardly crime!!! Wonder what the reason was ? either way a scummy man 

as for him getting seen to in prison unfortunately boys he'll likely be left alone & just doing his time along side everyone else , unless your a proper wrong'un or you get involved in things in there you won't get set about . Most in there just want to crack on and do their time and get out to their families and the ones inside that have nobody are hardly heavy people doing big sentences... just strung out shop lifter & theft types doing 12weeks or something , then you have your domestic murderers and fraudsters , a lot won't get involved to possibly get time added to their sentence unless it's something truly sickening or involves currency of some kind

According to our local news at the time it happened the man had called at the house asking if the old boy wanted some work doing on the bungalow. when he refused the scummy b*****d attacked him with the hammer.
