JohnGalway 1,043
Anyone know about the above for a T5 VW Transporter. Lot of shit/daredevil drivers around, would feel better having a decent day/night recording of any mishap. Also looking for a reversing camera as the bulkhead & blacked out rear windows impede rear view slightly
Meece 1,957
I've just bought the Mrs a new car and have fitted dash cams front and rear. I have gone for the nextbase cams. They are really good. we do have an issue with the sd micro card in the rear unit though. It was working and for no apparent reason it wouldn't record. A message came up "card full, format card". Doesn't seem to want to play so it looks like I'll have to get another card. I had one in the Garmin do the same thing. I have had a read up on the problem but it is complicated and often it doesn't seem to work. One for the geeks. I think that the one in the back is probably the most important because it shows people ploughing into you, more than you ploughing into someone else's car. The cards are an extra purchase as they don't come with the cam.
Meece 1,957
The car came with a reverse camera but although it is OK it is a bit of a distorted view and is only a guide. You do have to think about use of the mirrors as well and not rely on the cam.
bell 3,503
Christ, I may as well take the wing mirrors off my Mrs's car and sell them as she never uses them.......idiot....
scothunter 12,609
I was looking at cameras in poundstretcher other day. £25 can go under water with them. Think its a cheaper version of a go pro.

Makes good sense to have them I reckon.
ChrisJones 7,973
Go with the best you can afford. A biker I know was knocked off his Honda Dakar Rep and had a GoPro fitted to his lid. Doesn't even remember the incident aside from waking up in hospital. Local PD took the footage off the cam and it was so clear they were not only able to pull the number plate from the truck but they were also able to ticket them for an expired registration because the footage was so detailed they could read the expired tag. In the sue me society we've created HD footage is the difference between a fine and commendation!
