Myxi Again

Went out yesterday afternoon with the HMR for some rabbits. Settled down on a hill for some long shots overlooking a reliable warren. After an hour had shot four and went down to pick them up. Two had bad myxi round the eyes, but were still feeding. The other two were clear and in good condition, so took them. Chucked the myxi pair. What a waste of meat. This was in South Bucks.

Just been told by the postie, a few been found a couple of villages down, first cases here now since the 70’s. Always there just waiting to come back, see what damage it does to the colonies here by spring I think.

Yep, a classic example as to why experts should never be trusted!

First day or 2 of myxomatosis infection will not show any external sign, so who knows!

They are also all fine to eat regardless, but I have no desire to try!

Might have been best to put them in a hole and burn them. Trouble with leaving them, is it's more likely to spread.

Myxi hasn't hit here yet but I've found a couple of healthy looking dead ones could be vhd is after hitting here,myxi nearly wiped them out 3 years ago but they made a good comeback there's plenty of them about hopefully it stays that way
