Polycarbonate

Recommended Posts

I stupidly left some masking tape on the outside of a polycarbonate window & it's now a mess.

I've managed to get off most of the paper, but the sticky residue has hardened like glue & ain't budging.

What's best for a clean removal without damaging the surface? Cheers....

Not sure anything will without damaging the surface mate. I only know of chemicals that will remove the glue and guaranteed they will etch the surface. The only thing that may shift the glue with no damage is pure alcohol ;)

you been to a diy shop and got some tar and glue remover, or sticker remover. that should do the job may take a while if its hardened on.

I've tried googling the problem & sticker remover was one of the few things I found. I'm just trying get it as specific as possible, because when I go into the shop there will be the language issue, so if I don't know what I'm talking about, they sure as hell won't! Haha..........cheers mate ;-)

I think that will do it, you just have to rinse damn quick! So it's always a risk you'll damage it anyway ;-)

i am sure tar and glue remover is more heavy duty than sticker remover but dont quote me on that. sticker remover is cheap enough mate, like i say you can apply on a wrag/cloth it should make any marks if any minimal.

Have you tried laying a hot wet cloth on it for a few minutes? Might take ages but it won't hurt the poly.

I've used plenty of hot water to get most of the paper off, but the residue doesn't even soften, I'm sure it has to be a chemical in this case to work. Cheers...
