Indonesian Boar 'fighting'

Recommended Posts

Found this quite interesting.

Not sure what the exact rules are or how closely it is associated with hunting these days. I wonder if it's a bit like what field trialling is to gundogs? Or if it's now a full blown specialist sport like greyhound racing is to coursing?

I was imagining there would be much worse photos than there are but then Reuters is good for not pushing an agenda.

And let's be frank, if you were breeding a bull blooded lurcher or something similar that's where you would want your blood to come from.........not from Darryl's fat staffy down the road !

As baiting go's that's at the high end!..............& to give it some context, what the fcuk else are you going to do there on a Friday night!   I'd watch it with a cold beer :-)

Me,i believe traditional sports should be left alone, especially by foriengers.

Pit fighting of any kind wouldn't really be my cup of tea although I don't condem it........I think it's still an important part of breeding game dogs so I wouldn't want it banned.

If you found that interesting mate, grab a look at any of the "Hogs, dogs and quads" DVDs......that's more what we would call hunting and by f**k do they give them dogs some graft.

May not be everyone's cup of tea but I think they are good.

I keep meaning to. Looks brilliant frankly. I watch a bit of the kiwi stuff. Going out with 3 or 4 dogs into the bush, drawing scrub and creeks with them, putting in 10-20 miles a day on foot with nothing but a big knife or a lever action and coming home covered in mud blood and sweat..... that's real hunting.

Animal fighting sports aren't my thing either but the ones that are offshoots of hunting and try to stay true to that do intrigue me. There's not much in the way of information in that article. It probably started as a way of schooling catch dogs. I'm not going to get too high and mighty about it.

it says in the article that the dog owners pay between $15 and $150 to enter the dog in to the competition and the price depends on the size of the dog, why would the size of the dog matter

Maybe no one wants to see a big dog muller a boar so it costs more for that? The more sporting the dog the cheaper the price maybe.

But Darryl's fat staffy mullered Jason's fat rotti down the park, he's dead game!!

Interesting link BH  wild animals in a pit doesn't sit quite right with me but I'm not about to condemn another people's sport and hunting culture. They do similar in the US with the hog dog trials but I think that's only baying types? Same as this though with it's roots in training hunting dogs, folk just realised it was fun to watch!

Nice looking dogs too, I see EBT in some of them.
