Northern Rock 507
Couldnt resist this wind so thought time for the pups Fourth night out . Main two fields local were full of sheep and despite me being 100% she is broken I didnt want any fuss with them being right by the farmers house . Decided on another route and off we went . Into first field and one out but before we could get near it was across and onto the house law so time to leave that alone . Onto the next two fields and empty then spot one in the middle of next field . Get downwind and walk up and it flattens out . Socks winds it and I let her go , it gets up and she is upping the gears . Another breaks from a hollow and her inexperience shows as she splits for that and by time I flick the lamp round its into the hedge . Frustrating but she is still a pup . Next four fields nothing so cross the road onto land that has a few . First field two in but so close to the hedge . Try and get closer but get to ten yes and they are off with ten to go to the hedge . Silly really but I let her have a run and she ends up with her nose down a hole . Next field two out right by the road so do a long loop and I see one lit by street lights creeping into a patch of sedge . I walk it up and the other gets up but I still have red filter on and its lost . Dog back to me and one still in the sedge . I decide to leave her loose ( my out of practice ) and walk the squatter up . She trots up and straight past and it makes its move but she doesnt sight it and its gone. Thinking its going to be one of those night I think last field and Home . Spot one and its gently running towards a huge sedge patch . She sees it and off she goes . It turns she strikes and its in the mouth . Back to five feet away and its squealing so it take it and one in the bag. Walk to the sedge and paunch it out , liver and heart to her and chuck the guts in the sedge . Socks is loose and next thing Reynard is out of the sedge , lit by the street lights and she is off . Couple of turns and she loses it before I even get chance to pick up the lamp and Im glad as she is certainly not ready for that . Cross the road, down the track and a tree down so clamber over that to the crossroads for Home . One last field I think as its only a quick scoot so we pop the fence and into the field . One out so we walk it up and its off . Straight to the hedge and she seems not to have got onto it when she turns it and its back into the field , it keeps turning on a sixpence and must have turned her five or six times with her steering it out the hedge before she nabs it . She was making sure and had her paws on it before bringing it back . Enough for one night so lots of praise and a five minute walk home . She is still a pup and inexperienced but happy the way its going , just needs to trust the beam a bit more on the walk up . Always wanting for more but slow and steady for this season . 4 Quote Link to post
