Memory Play List

Recommended Posts

Listening to the radio this morning there was a bit about the power of music to make a connection to people suffering from dementia, comas etc......

I didn't catch all of it, but basically a girl musician had been making a study after an event with her grandmother. Her grandmother had been cocooned by dementia & nothing was getting through to her, until they started to play some old tunes & singing one day & she began to come out of her stupor & started to join in with the singing.....

There is now a company in the UK that will help you compile a play list that means something to you, in the event of such circumstances........So what would be your memory play list?

I'm thinking 10 pieces of music or less.......Songs, soundtracks.....even music from adverts etc, what would be your list that may trigger something & why?

The same can be said for smell, Raw sweat is allays associated with my farther for me, goes back to around 1963 and has stayed with me all my life. Some songs of the Nineteen Sixties make me cry, they bring back memory's of all the family lost, as I am the last of them all who walks the Earth.

All the very best

Not possible in my way of thinking, for me that is. As almost any song the i know will bring back one kind of memory or other. From Nineteen Sixty when i came to the UK as a Three year Old to this day songs or just music are associate with untold acts of day to day life for me as with every one else I would say. To chose is again for me impossible. The most potent as I said, is that associated with my farther for me.

Chris Isaak - wicked game.

Always reminds me of being a kid playing on the landing on a Sunday afternoon/night with my mum ironing school clothes ready for Monday morning

Pink Floyd - all of them

Saturdays in the house and my dad playing music during the day

Heartbeat/last if the summer wine tunes

Highschool age , again Sunday night's sitting downstairs with dad watching them. Smoke plumes all thru the living room
