Squirrels

As the nights are closing in I really only get out at weekends rabbiting and shooting with my air rifle. , but my mate who I go with don't work so is out and about most days. Today he left me some squirrels in my freezer, I've never gave them squirrel before and wasn't sure if they can have them, he gave his ferrets some today and they ate them. Mine get a very big mixture of whole and raw but not squirrel as of yet.

Any advice please

If they haven't come from an area where poising is carried try eating a couple yourself they are very good to eat

Ferrets love em. They will happily eat almost any raw meat, brilliant adaptable creatures.

Squirrel actually does taste nice. Id freeze them solid for a couple of days before id feed them raw to the ferrets.

I've fed them to my hob . He seemed to prefer the head and inside the chest cavity most

Some eat them some wont opening them up might help but as said there bad for fleas so freeze them for two /three weeks

because squirrel skin very tough they good for ferrets as it keeps em a little more active than normal

Mine fight like buggery over Squirrel, to be fair I like eating them, the Hawk likes eating them, so be a bit odd if Ferrets did not.

As of September 2015 the use of Warfarin against squirrels was banned.
