She’S Getting Better

Im now happy with the way my 14 month old Whippet is coming on, at first she didnt know how to strike, she seemed to be using her feet but after her first rabbit she started to get the hang of it.

Last night I slipped her on her first long ears, she picked it up but had a bad tumble and she let go. The second one she struck at it twice taking the fur from its back end, it was lucky and got through the hedge.

Im hoping its only a matter of time, the more I run her the better shell get, shes very keen so Im sure she wont get sick.

It's only a matter of time buddy, try not to get disheartened keep putting it in front of her and the penny will drop, been there myself with bitch I've got at the moment

Thanks Brambles, I was happy with the way she ran last night, first time shes been on the long ears, they were nearly as big as her lol lol

Was out with my dog othernight ran like 6 rabbits and all of them should of been caught, was all over them like a rash. I wasn't going home until he had atleast one lol he then caught the next 3 like he's been doing it all along and retrieved em live to hand. Was over the moon.

I've had a couple of whippets mate if you keep putting her on them at 14 month old shell 100 percent start opening up is leave the big ones until at least 2 yrs old atb

Ohh lamping long ears ??? That's going against the grain, if ur dogs not fast enough to catch them in the day do t run them at night ! Just my opinion ?

Im interested to here what other lads think who have experience with pedigree Whippets, what age they should start on the bigger ones. Lamp or daytime.

i found mine not capable of that job. Didnt have the gears to do it properly and would only catch the odd one out of luck.

I think it doesn't matter wether u lamp or daytime or whatever else to catch big ears as long as you eat them not throw them in the edge what a waste beautiful meat

I run my ped whippet on the long ears on the lamp she's 19.5 tts and she has had a few this season i let her race a couple of long ears a night and then put her back on the bunnies to keep her keen
