sorry chris couldn't resist that mate lol

I'm out of likes so have a

 Touché, sir!

Out them myself mate but I hear you.

As it stands I can legally keep my 3 shot semi auto next to my bed (or anywhere else for that matter) and I do so..........in case I hear a fox in the hen house at night.

Of course and for the record I don't suddenly think I'm going to be invaded, or zombies will arrive, or anything of the paranoid nature. I do however live in the middle of nowhere and I feel better knowing that my Mrs and kids can take responsibility for their own security. ;)

I mean if you look at the last 100 years of European history you'd have to be a completely paranoid nut job think that we'd ever fall out and start killing each other...

An evil evil act.

In my opinion these acts are perpetrated by people who are hell bent on killing, for whatever reason, and, they will do so no matter what laws are put in place, or tools they have at hand.

Look at the Manchester bombing for example.

A man in a lorry in Nice, France killed 86 last year, we haven't banned HGV's.

It's very easy to point the finger at guns and blame them for these atrocities but in my opinion that shows a lack of basic intelligence. If i stood an assault rifle in the corner of a room, loaded, safety catch off what would happen? Nothing. They are inanimate pieces of metal and plastic.

I am an Englishman, living in England so I have just as much right as the other people from this isle that criticise American gun laws without any knowledge of the states or their gun laws...

I totally support their right to bare arms and don't for a minute believe that the impingement of those rights would diminish the severity or regularity of mass killings perpetrated by evildoers such as these, to speculate that removing the right to own any firearm, fully automatic or not would deter these people is, in my opinion a fantasy.

Ridiculous body count R.I.P those who lost their lives in this shocking act.

On Sunday night, a gunman killed at least 58 people and injured more than 500 others on the Las Vegas Strip.

The shooter, identified as Stephen Paddock, open fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino into a crowd of thousands below who were attending a country music festival.

It was the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

As the tragic event showed, guns remain an entrenched — and accessible — part of American life.

According to the Center for Disease Control, 33,594 people died due to gun-related causes in 2014, the year with the most recent data.

The national average is 10.5 gun deaths per 100,000 residents. But that number varies widely from state to state.

The Kaiser Family Foundation assembled a table of statistics from the CDC on 2015 mortality rates from firearms in each state.

Kaiser combined various firearm-related causes of death, including assault by firearm, police shootings, suicide by firearm, and accidental discharges.

Some highlights:

• States with the highest rate include Alaska (23.4) and Louisiana (20.5). Alaska doesn't require residents to have a permit for carrying concealed weapons, while Louisiana does (but only for certain handguns and rifles).

• States with the lowest rate include Massachusetts (3.0) and Hawaii (3.6). Bothstates have some of the strictest gun control laws in the country.

This map shows the number of gun-related deaths per 100,000 residents in each state in 2015:

It doesnt help anyone by raising the old 'for and against arguments'.

People have died in the most terrifying circumstances - we had it in Manchester - it doesnt have to be a gunman it could have been a bomb. there is no explanation.

The killer was a grandfather. He had children of his own, every reason to care about life in general apparently.

What he has done to the 58, the 500 and his own children and their children is beyond imagining and beyond redemption.

He was not normal ,he was criminally insane. Guns were a means, as might have been a bomb - the victims are, however, still the victims.

Spend your emotional concern on the victims and forget the mans name - he was perhaps like B; Los Angeles like Utoya, - hideously inexplicable.

That's not much of a dodge is it? Should I have grenades and explosives?

You stated that you'd only use them against an occupying force. I don't have an issue with that.

So should Abdul born and bred in Bradford be allowed to have explosives if he "promises" to only use them against the imaginary occupying forces? By your logic he could. I'm all for personal liberties but be careful what you wish for....

As a decent law-abiding citizen, it's none of my concern how you go about being a decent law-abiding citizen. If your hypothetical Abdul wishes to commit an atrocity he'll do it regardless of the legality. It's equally dangerous to apply the slippery slope argument against constitutionally protected rights but as the devil's advocate shouldn't you be able to intervene to stop hypothetical Abdul now that you've identified him and he's no longer an imaginary occupying force but a real threat to yours and your family's immediate safety?
