Learning How To Estimate Range.

Recommended Posts

I was walking my dog, no gun, watching the land, pigeons habits, crows/ magpies etc and I was thinking about a previous post from a lad calling himself " Filthy Manc".

I was simply guessing ranges out to 35- 40 yds and then lazing my guesses to see how close I was ?

I`ve shot these ranges for nigh on 50 years and I was very surprised how close and bang on I was but 45 yds and beyond I was falling behind :nono: .

So as modern telescopic sights and guns can considerably push out the ranges possible I need to laze after 35 yds, " every time" if mooching.

I also foraged some field mushrooms and Shaggy ink caps.

Here you go. Field Mushroom

Only pick the ink caps " before they open and show a black stain like this" as they will turn to mush in the pan, also no alcohol before or 3 days after eating.

The field mushrooms,- get them scoffed anytime you like, drink as much alcohol as you like.

The Fields are way nicer than shop bought.

Just pick the Fields,- really nice food.
