Stumfelter I don't think Wilf is saying he pays over 50% income tax. He's saying over 50% of his annual earnings ends up as tax revenue. He might still be wrong but that's how I am understanding it.

I'd trust him over Corbyn every time !

What state penshion ?........they spent that ages ago. They are borrowing whatever you get off your kids and grandkids

He definitely seems to be an improvement on the jokers who have been leader since Farage and you're right he comes across as quite sensible and respectable.

I could see him bleeding off a lot of the more libertarian minded Tory voters, especially if May makes a mess of Brexit...

Wait and see, if the Torys and labour are Cancer and AIDS then the Lib Dems are a nasty case of the clap.......and you always need to make sure that's fully cured before jumping in bed with a former sufferer ;)

I don't think he was actually any kind of party official just a member in the past so don't totally write him off based on that, sure we've all been with a wrongun and got a dose at least once!

Still made me laugh when I heard it, not exactly the sort of party switch you'd expect!

He'll be giving his first speech as leader tomorrow outlining his vision for the party so that should be worth a watch for those who are trying to make up their mind about him.

UKIP's ruling body has passed a unanimous vote of no confidence in party leader Henry Bolton following a row over his 25-year-old girlfriend.

The party's National Executive Committee (NEC) held an emergency meeting on Sunday after married father-of-three Mr Bolton, 54, faced growing calls to quit over his relationship with model Jo Marney.

Mr Bolton ended the "romantic element" of their relationship last week, when it emerged party activist Ms Marney had sent offensive messages about Prince Harry's fiancee Meghan Markle.

She was also reported to have sent separate messages making jokes about child sexual abuse.

UKIP members will now decide whether to endorse or reject the ruling body's assessment of Mr Bolton's leadership at an emergency meeting.

The news comes less than four months since he was elected.

Well he didn't last very long before his first major scandal  will UKIP be getting their 7th leader since the EU referendum soon?

You have a look at Trump and a populist leader saying the right things has to hitch a lift on the back of a major established party imho

Spot on but the problem with that is the way the leadership selection process is done in the Conservative party with MPs holding so much of the power (remember May never even faced a vote by the membership) entryism is almost impossible. You certainly couldn't pull off something like we did with Corbyn in Labour or what Trump did with the Republican nomination.

Sensible post mate, but the joker in the pack is that them shallow c**ts will put in whatever leader they think gives them the best chance of staying in a job.....that’s the bit any potential Trojan horse needs to work on I reckon

Aye you make a good point pal if a candidate emerged with the sort of grassroots support that made them look like a sure thing the MPs could probably be persuaded to get behind them regardless of whether they really backed their policies or not but for long lasting change the party apparatus would need to be changed too.
