What Happened To All The Discussion On The .17 Wsm? Has Anybody Got One?

Recommended Posts

I got a variation for a .17 WSM, when I renewed my licence. They are in the country and being bought according to my RFD, but not seen any comments on here. Thinking of swapping the CZ HMR for one.

Edgar Brothers have a full page ad in Shooting Times for the Savage .17wsm.

I learnt something today! Do they bring in the ammo to?

I have no idea. Just remembered the advert in last weeks ST.

Must have done a review at some point too,

I wanna see a 22wsm. Take advantage of the semi auto loophole in British law.

Unless something has changed the Semi Auto loophole only applies to .22Rimfires, hence why we never had the HMR semi in this country (during its short lifetime).

The WSM is only .17, has anyone suggested a .22? Never say never but whilst I may just be able to see some merit in the .17 version, I'm not sure those merits would transfer to a .22 in the same way!

I want a .25 version with 60grn bullets, soft bullets as in thin jackets. Going no slower than 1700fps.

I know, lol, which is why I said 22wsm and not 17wsm. And no, no one has suggested it other than me.

For the sake of accuracy, I'm saying I want to see the 17wsm necked up for a 22 and commercially produced with a semi auto platform. A 22wsm if you will. I'm not saying that there currently is a 22wsm.

....I got that, but perhaps I could have worded my reply better!

As a matter of interest do you know the actual size of the parent cartridge case, would it take a .22 or even .25?
