DIDO.1 20,804
I'm planning to make some jam. Does it need storing in a fridge. I know it can go mouldy once opened but if I'm using my own jam jars then it won't be air tight? Don't wanna make a load and it go off
terryd 8,024
Sterilise the jars proper and it will keep fine and once opened keep in the fridge. I don't all ways bother and it often gets left out and is fine. I have jam from last year I think and its fine

terryd 8,024
If you looking for a recipe good one here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/326279-easy-blackberry-jam/ microwave jam is the way to go saves a lot of pissing about and you don't need to make a ton at a time. Made a cracking raspberry one this year using a women's institute recipe
Squeamish5 309
If you use jars with lids, and sterilise them in the oven, and put hot (not booing obvs) jam in, lids on, as cooling jam contracts in vol, should make airlock. You can hear the little press button thingys click down.
