First Outing

So as the longest day is well behind us and the forthcoming season approaches is anyone else getting itchy feet? when do you all plan on going out this year? i will exercise patience and wait until october if i can.

 

Any thoughts and goals for this season people??

I will be having a little nose about august on any little open holes until the cover dies. I need to keep this fella gainfully employed  

I so agree with you mate if you are not sure do not eat it. I started slowly may be one sort each year, But things like giant puff balls, Hedge hog mushrooms you can't go wrong, safer than field mush

Im glad we have the seasons and dont have your spiders and snakes and have to think i could die every time i stick my hand down a rabbit hole

September for me as well, open ground burrows and in the woods first and let the hedges die back ( seem to take ages last year ). Every year waiting for the new season I seem to be like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Will try late September provided its cold enough and I don't get younguns running through my nets,as that normally means a lot of lay ups digging the dogs tend to eat the young they catch so end up with worms.

Also lot of the places I go you need a few hard frost to kill off the greenery so you can get to the holes
