Microchip

Recommended Posts

When I had my hob vasectomised recently I had him micro chipped while he was under . I have 2 Jill kits and I want them microchipped aswell. What kind of age should they be done . Part of me thinks early on in their life and they might forget about the whole process . Later on and it might turn any visit to the vets into carnage as they hate the place . When my dogs were done they didn't even feel it .

I doubt the vets or rescues would even think to scan a ferret for a microchip. I know they never scanned the one i got from the rescue. If you are getting them done though it would be best to wait till their bigger. I know a few people that do the microchipping and they really dont like doing small dogs or pups due to the size of the needle their jabbing into them. I imagine a ferret kit would be more fidgety to do as its smaller again.

Same here the rescues , rspca are just glad to get rid of then ive never seen them check for a micro chip . But if you work them with collars you should stand a good chance of no loosing them and good paddlocks on the hutch should help them going wandering

Costs me 12 quid for a microchip . Im aware that some places if they were handed in wouldn't check for chips but for 12 quid over there lifetime and if they ever did get loose (kids or Mrs maybe) , for me it's worth the 12 pounds . I'll be using a collar and receiver when out but just in the off chance I reckon its worth it. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it
