we I've been a member of THL for bout a year and a half now and I've got to know who knows there stuff...

and when it comes to tuning springers its Charlie caller

over the years I've done all sorts to piston seals, I've boiled them softened them up and bathed them in rubber rejuvenator!

but one thing stands out in a lot of post's VORTEK seals!

I spoke to Tony at agrtuning a few weeks back when I was sorting something out for a mate!

he's one sound bloke and more than helpful

so the other night I sent an email and received a reply first thing next morning, did a PayPal transaction and it was on my doorstep the next day..

thats service!

I ordered a piston seal for a prosport and 97 pluss a breech seal for the 97

post-102306-0-14742000-1498235178_thumb.jpg

I got the 97 last weekend and it had a right twang.. it shot lovely but sounded like sh!t and ran at around 10.5 with the original square spring,

so I ditched the spring for a spare hw I had, it was way shorter and needed a fair bit of pre-load to bring it back up but the twang had completely gone but resulted in more of a kick :censored:

this is the result after the new seals were fitted and id removed half of the pre-load.. need to move more

post-102306-0-42822200-1498235771_thumb.jpeg

now the prosport with a good chunk of pre-load moved up to high 11's but there was a noticeable recoil and the power dropped back down after a couple

of sessions!

this is the ps after new piston seal and removing the pre load!

it was running at 10.3 bought new from the shop last week, its now sitting at 11.8

I've heard a few differing opinions since I came back to air rifles but, I do like mid/high 11s for hunting :thumbs:

you'll have to pick it up Jon, can't afford to post it..

its full of lead

its about the only good use I can find for them... Argos ones are better!!

Good going Si.

I assume the led lamp on the Chrony gives a decent and reliable light for using indoors. Do you mount one on each shade.

I bet they are tons cheaper than the Chrony ones, where did you get them Si, a link perhaps mate.

cheers Phil

yeah there's one on each shade...

they work a treat, just got to make sure the light in the room is balanced..

no other lights on in the room or the sun blasting in... florescent strip lights flicker like hell and cause havoc!

think they were £3 from wilkinsons/wilko

far more pocket friendly than the £100 they want for the official ones
