typical bank holiday weather in north-yorkshire..... cr@p and raining!!

by 2pm i was climbing the walls and id overdosed on junk tv.. so i thought sod it I'm off out!

went to the dairy farm cos there are ferrels and daytime rats to go at and i can shelter in the sheds

dropped a couple of ferrels and a few rats but it was slow.. i don't bother picking these up as i just boot them into the nearest puddle or out of sight :whistling:

the weather sort of faired up so i set off for a walkabout, the fields change and rotate that quickly its hard to know wheres best to go when you

want to get on the rabbits.. so i left the farm and jumped over the fence into a maize field, all the shoots are coming through and by the state of them the rabbits are feasting well :icon_eek:

ill freely admit i missed a few in the fist field cos it was wet through and i wasn't going to lay down in it.. then i hopped a fence into a silage field that was short the other week... its like a bloody jungle now and i got soaked walking through it!!

there were a few rabbits about but getting on them was a nightmare!

finally i got to a shortish grass field and i was that wet i didn't give a feck about laying down...

fist rabbit of the day at about 40yrd off the pod :victory:

the bisley mags are lethal in this fx

i was now feeling a bit more confident after two fields from hell... so i moved up to a nib that was probably an old gateway and got down and tucked in!

there were six rabbits in range so i managed to bag 3 in less than a minute.. the nearest was prob 30 and the farthest was just over 60!

watching the mags hit home is something else, you can see them dropping at the far ranges but they fly true.

the nib

You can't argue with that mate :good:

Just an idea but, have you tried lubing them?

..... Not that there's anything wrong with what that combo did today.

I always used to say that pellet lube was bollocks and, I certainly don't wash and dry them but, I found a couple of drops of Napier Power Pellet lube in my dirty FTTs works wonders - for me, it tightened up the groups and gave a bit more velocity

I haven't shown the missus that tag yet - I'm biding my time carefully for that one

...... I've just ordered a couple of bottles of that lube - I'll send you one up when up when they arrive

..... They made the pellets in my Superten cycle silky smooth

I just put a few drops in a tin and sit there turning and rotating it for a while.

I had considered lubing my pellets Jon but to be honest it seems a load of faff. Mark sprays silicone on his mag which seems to work for him but the thought of washing, drying and then lubing :hmm:

Nice result Si by the way. It rained a little down here but I stayed in as I have buggered my neck (fcuk knows how) so somewhat painful.

One pellet to try Si is AA Field Heavy, wow what a pellet, I am very impressed with them.

Phil

I spray my HW mag after Marks recommendation - it works for me

I don't wash and dry the pellets - that's way too much pissing about - I literally just put a few drops of lube in a tin and, sit there slowly rotating for a while.

It worked really well on .22 FTTs in my old Superten. They were pretty good anyway but, it made them cycle a lot smoother and, brought the grouping together better.

..... the pictures below are before and after

However, I have tried it with other rifles/pellets and it's done completely the opposite.
