Anything by Nick Davies, eminent professor at Oxford, he had two excellent books on the subject. Join the BTO, they do great work concerning cuckoo migration and tagging. A good read are the two books by Edgar Chance. He studied the cuckoo in the 1920s and filmed the actual dirty deed for the first time. YouTube him, fascinating old film.
