Short Window Of Opportunity

Recommended Posts

Busy week at work and with a social commitment on Saturday night, Friday night would be my only chance to get out.

Unfortunately a band of cloud and heavy rain looked like it was set in for the evening but at just after 7pm a rainbow signalled that there may be a chance. So quickly grabbed the gear and headed out. Drove partway up the track scattering baby rabbits in all directions and stopped to see an adult feeding in the entrance to the field so as quietly as possible I managed to get out of the truck and stalk up to it and put it in the bag, picked it up and looking to my left saw another which quickly joined it. Decided to cross the road and lie out in the wet grass:

Half an hour a youngster came out so just watched it through the scope when an adult popped out and chased it off, a quick shot in the back of the head and number three was in the bag. Tried a couple of other places in the meadow but unfortunately although a lot of rabbits were about the mist was swirling around and like a scene from Watership Down rabbits would appear and disappear.

With the light almost gone I headed back across the road and stuck on my red torch and returned to the field where I took the first two earlier. Torch on and one was in range and down it went, then walking a bit to the right I saw one more far up against the hedge, knowing it was about to go I gave it a mildot over and a thwack told me the pellet had made good contact although it took me a good few minutes to find it stone dead in the nettles at 46 yds.

Going to try the KFC style recipe as recommended by The One:

Them images Chris. Jesus. Crystal. Clear. In all honesty you make me want a 410. Even said to the mrs. Full length? :). 410. 177. QTec. Nuff said. Dunno if I'd wrap tape round it though... :D

Cracking mate.
