New Permission - Sort Of....

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago I got a couple of paddock permissions, one I shot a few times, one I was never able to arrange to be there when the owner had some free time. Then I sold the guns last year when times were tight. Then I bought some more guns when times were good. Then this week no work on site so some shooting time and I managed to arrange to shoot the unshot permission!

Well I got there at the arranged time and the owner was busy giving a riding lesson to a student. So I waited, and waited, and waited in the end I said "Hello!" in a loud voice and the electric gates opened, posh this place!

I was shown the paddocks by the owner, checked zero and on the first walk down got a rabbit and a kitt (standard paddock rules apply - rabbit = dead).

Carried on stalking the edges and sent another one to the great paddock in the sky.

Manged to get through the stables behind the Manege and blow me down if there was not another group of paddock munchers busy feeding, as the horse breathed down my neck I fired and dropped the biggest. Horse looked impressed! Another Labradonkey!

It started to rain so got under the trees and saw one in the hedgerow, another aim, pull, drop. So now I know where they are, I can go back in a couple of weeks time and have some more shooting!

And that little visit along with 5 rabbits will please the landowner no end. A horse with a broken leg because of a rabbit hole is the greatest fear with horse people.

Good visit I would say, well done.

Found a burrow entrance in the paddock, so put a fence post in it to show where it was, could get my foot down it to half way up my shin. She was thankful I located and made her aware of that holes location!
