i had a few as pets when I was a kid and yes pretty smart birds, had one that could pick me out in a crowd and would fly down and land on my arm much to people's amazement, I was probably around 12 at the time every spring we used to go out looking for fledglings that had fallen from trees, crows, rooks and jackdaws, magpies never done well in captivity for some reasons and usually died within a week

Excellent...That sounds like an excellent experience. I've always found them quite fascinating...A pet crow...might be worth a go! It could keep the sodding Seagulls off of my roof!
