My ole wheatenx bitch will track wounded roe an fox that aint been shot clean, an freezes like a pointer if summat is close enough in cover or unseen, not summat iv ever taught her either as i rarely shot over, only as a pup with air rifle haha, ole lakie does same but starts whineing like banshee if she aint allowed to run in an flush or let off lead haha

Watching them work the deer dogs over in new zealand is poetry in motion would love it. Watching the dog work like that.

ive got a labxgwp and a gwp both used for stalking and wildfowling plus owt else i get to do , both predominantly deer dogs used for tracking and spotting and on the rare occurrences when they needed to be firm with their quarry they performed as required, both were trained for stalking before being introduced to other quarry , the gwp is quite keen on foxes as well , ,

my bullxwhip,is a excellent tracker,and will also indicate if fox is near.once the shots gone he knowsvwhat to do.runs the scent line flat out with nose down.not used him on deers tho.
