White-Tailed Eagle

While I was going round my lambing fields this morning I noticed a bird of prey sat on top of the hedge, I never thought much of it because they don't give me any hassle apart from taking the after births but I'm fine with that, it wasn't until it took flight that it really caught my eye. It was huge, a lot bigger than the BOP that I usually see, half of its wings were black with what I thought looked a lighter colour on the tail end. I googled it and the white-tailed eagle seemed to be the closest thing to what I saw, I read they had been seen near Silloth a few years ago, I'm right in the Lake District, could it be a eagle? Does anyone know much about them? It said on google that they are pretty rare.

Just been looking mate. Don't know how to put links etc up, but just read that there'd been three separate sightings in one week in cumbria. And one was seen in Rickerby Park in Carlisle and one in the RSPB reserve at Tindale, and again at Mawbray near Silloth.

Article was called Raptor Politics, and there was a calendar on the page from 2011.

Hope that's of help to you
