There are 3 UK Manufacturers of Spring Traps that are licenced for use in the UK. Any other "similar" ( Fen, Fenn type, Mk6 ) traps cannot be used legally - even for killing rabbits or squirrels. These brands are Springer, Solway & Fenn. Springers are clearly stamped with the brand & Mark 6 on the treadplates and APP.No. 2111 which is the DEFRA Approval number. The triggers & catches are always brass because steel will rust & fail in time.

I'm pretty sure the springer trap is specifically names in the relevant legislation alongside the fenn version as being approved. Should be no real difference in performance.

Had 2 squirrels in mk4s this week, one clean round the neck quick kill and the other by the front leg which needed shooting in the box. They are far from perfect traps to get a 100% clean kill. Most of mine are clean kills but now and again there's one that sticks his leg on the trigger plate first! ?
