Sirblessed 2,511
This year I only kept one of the ferrets I bred a male called Buck he is now 5 months old, big for his age. I took him out today did a small burrow with him and a couple of jills bolted 3 rabbits, one caught by the dogs after it slipped the net, one netted, and one got away. Got stuck on the hole and waited over an hour before the ferrets emerged covered in fur and blood so looks like he had his first kill assist lol great to be out and about. PS- Wish Socks was there with a long extension lead and his hammer drill 1 Quote Link to post

Aussie Whip 3,825
Those big hobs are good for getting out stubborn jills, also like using them to bolt for the dogs.Found if you use purse nets, a lot of rabbits baulk and get dragged back down by big ferrets.Your bulldogs good.I've taken mine twice and the rabbits caught by mine looked like roadkill. I very rarely use buck ferrets, usually as you say to drive the others off a kill or the larger type warrens. Wasn’t always the case with kass, use to chew them up a bit when younge,r and still does at times on the first couple ,if she hasnt been out for a few days lol Quote Link to post
Arry 18,570
Just being out there is all that matters sometimes. Steel plate though oxyacetylene torch or a dice cutter Socks with his breaker, all this new fangled ferreting gear going to need a bigger truck. LOL . Buck don't look that big Doug. Cheers Arry 1 Quote Link to post

Cheers Arry Deceptive photos he is almost double the size of my jills look at the one with 2 in the hole give a better idea, he is big for what I like to work that’s for sure lol The hammer drill is for the ground not the plate, f ground is like a rock no digging here, like that in most places to hard to dig, deeper you go the harder it gets, suppose it’s a bonus, that’s why I like jills smaller, and kill less underground, less waiting 1 Quote Link to post
