Saluki246 1,053
Any of your dogs had their main k9 tooth chipped, how did they get on?
socks 32,253
If it's only a surface chip they will be fine ... if it's gone to the root number one it will be painful and number two it will eventually rot ... better going and getting it removed if it's chipped badly ......
Saluki246 1,053
Thanks. Its chipped at the tip a bit, not half way up. He seems fine, but when drinking cold water i can see he licks his lips a bit and closes his eyes, but drinks fine when water a little warmer.
socks 32,253
Tip of the nerve is showing then might be worth a vet visit it will save you money in the long run ......
skycat 6,172
One of mine broke the top off her lower canine a few years ago. You can see the nerve in the centre. Took her straight to the vet, who said leave it unless it seems to be causing problems, as extracting a canine tooth is a major job as the root is so long and deep into the jaw bone. 3 or 4 years on it has never bothered her at all and shows no signs of decay/going discoloured or rotten. There is just a small, dark shadow in the centre of the broken tooth, and she chews bones fine, eats as normal and shows no signs of pain if I press it. I keep an eye on it nonetheless.
Saluki246 1,053
Thanks. He has been to the vet already and vet touched it and messed with it and said, ''his not pulling away when i touch it, it should be fine. '' However, i will keep an eye on it.
