and if your using a wetsuit your going to need a weight belt or you will never get down ,plus you should always carry a divers knife ,not to fend of sharks but if you swim in to a monofilament gill net or the like that has been disgarded then its a handy thing to have

I love snorkelling and spearfishing. I have never tried scuba diving but I imagine that would be cool too. I have speared octopus, cuttlefish, whiting, bream and some different sorts of rock fish that

i like the north coast

yep i can confirm,,,,the water up there for some reason is b*****d freezing,,,,midle of august when the med is warm,,,we couldnt belive it first time we went,,but we like it up there ,,been a few times now..in fact i remember saying to the mrs,,it was colder than bilbao in northern spain,,,,and about the same as portugal

What do you think of Bilbao? we had something booked down there in the hills, I was driving down, but we have cancelled now & intend on going next year.........

i like the north coast of spain,,if your camping the climate is better in summer than down south on the med,,,as its to hot to camp down there,,,theres some stunning sceanary as well,,,,if you look on a map miday between san sebastian and bilbao ,,deba is a nice little town,,,we have camped at mutricu the next town along,,,it has a great little beach and two sea pools next to the beach and harbour,,,that fill up naturally with sea water as the tide goes in and out,,,the campsite is above it in the hills looking down,,cracking little place it is...

last summer was first time we have actualy gone in to bilbao propper...and i must say i liked the place,,,wich was a supprise as normally im not that keen on citys,,,theres a Guggenheim museum there ,,allthough ive not looked round it,,,,theres a cabble car/train thing that takes you up the hills behind the city,,,the view is great theres a nice park up there and swimming pools,,,yeh i like the area

Cheers! That was my thinking on the climate. We had a place booked in Onati, more inland between Bilbao & San Sebastion, like you say, stunning!

The other nearby attraction for me is Rioja ;-)

We will drive down next year, for sure!

Sorry Born ;-)

On the shark fear thing, I was diving with my dad when I was a girl, going down on a line. Got a nosebleed and my mask filled with blood. He was signalling 'blow your mask out' (couldn't see the red) and I was refusing, terrified to do so. Started to go back up and he grabbed my ankle. Looked up and saw what I was convinced was sharks on the surface. (It was just the bottom of the boat, he was just trying to slow me down). Was so so scared. Only went diving in open water again a couple of times after that.

Anyone done the PADI open & advanced open?

The mrs goes on about this. She did something in Egypt (& fuuxk knows where else) but she needs to do something else to finalise it, or upgrade it or something.... What is it? ?

Edited to add... I know it's diving ?
