Hi all,

My name is Joe, I'm from N. Wiltshire.

I've joined the forum to help in my quest to reach out and contact anyone that knew the late John J. Cubby MBE (Former Chief Wildlife Ranger for the NW Division of the FC, based at Grizedale from '68 until his retirement in '03). This is in connection with a photography project I've been working on for a number of years at Cubby's Tarn in Grizedale, the tarn was renamed in his honour in '08, a year after he died.

As some of you may know, John was highly regarded for his countryman skills and influential in the wildlife management techniques of Red Deer as well as many other wildlife species. He also tutored many folks in their shooting and hunting/stalking skills (likely some of you reading this!), and was an early member of the BDS.

As part of my project I've been compiling what is becoming quite an extensive bio on his life, but keen to reach out beyond his immediate family and former FC colleagues now to fill this out further.

I am planning to publish a book of my project, with a nod to John's influence, and exhibit the work at Grizedale in Nov this year, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of John's untimely passing.

It would be great to hear from anyone that knew John in either a professional and/or personal capacity or can perhaps share my request in some way. Feel free to reply on his thread or DM me.

Perhaps you could also suggest which of the sub-forums would be best to post this request on to?

In the meantime, thank you and I trust you don't mind me joining your forum for this!

Joe
