Working With A Cometa Fenix Premier In .177

Recommended Posts

I detuned this gun to about 11.6fpe...or 700 and change with barracuda match. Now some of you will notice i am from the states and will ask " why would you tune a gun DOWN?" well... i like springers that are well behaved, and if i need blunt force trauma, i will grab a pcp...anyway, shaping up very nicely so far. still have a lot of pellet testing to do, as well as some trigger work. the cudas are very accurate and even though she is still settling, just gave me an E.S 0f 7fps over 10 shots. i will add to this as i go along

Good luck with your work, power in any springer, low or high same with pcp is only as good or useful as him or her behind it.

All the best

I agree with your statement 100%...I have guns ranging from 6fpe all the way to 500+fpe in air...and also shoot rimfire and full bore in powder, as well as muzzle loaders and archery. i am a firm believer in practice, practice , practice....and i won't hunt with a gun that i am not intimately familiar with.

I am thinking this one will get a barrel chop and recrown. Then, maybe a nice aluminum muzzle brake from my machinist buddy. It should shape up into a very nice barnyard pigeon/rat getter

outside the barn..actually... i find that even at 12fpe...177 still has too much penetration on such short ranges..for inside the barn, i prefer my walther lgv master ultra in .22 cal with a wadcutter or hollow point
