Exhausting Night.

Went to a part of the farm that's been out of bounds until the rough shoot was over. This farm must have been at the front of the queue when they handed out the mud allowance and it's all up and down. More than once my clockwork ran out and at the end of the night I was totally fukcered.

However;

 

I had ten bunnies and a fox. Was pleased with my little Seek thermal when I was totally disorientated on the first bunny and was looking in the wrong place. The Seek found it from about forty yards away in a stubble field.

 

I'm really dumbfounded with this fox thing.

They are supposed to be really crafty and cunning and yet - for the second time - a fox came running straight at me from about 150yds to my really weak and quiet lip squeak.

I'm stood up in the middle of a field with my .22lr Anschutz on quad sticks on a bright moonlit night and he's running at me. He's actually looking up at the glow from the infra red and he's not stopping or the slightest bit wary.

Didn't fancy the head-on shot so I took the engine room option at around 35yds and he dropped on the spot only to get up and tried to run. Unbelievable self preservation reaction. He got about 10yds and fell stone dead. I gave him another win 40gr hp at point blank just to make sure.

Already met them U. Could've shot two more last night with the right rifle. Too far away to hear my weak arsed squeak. Am about to put in for a 223. Then a decent caller ha ha.

 

Did find a bankful of seriously big rats behind some feeders so will definitely be back for them. Just thinking which rifle to take, the HW100 12lbs or the Mk2 Rapid 30lbs? Think it will have to be the Rapid. Will be able to get further back for a better arc of fire. Ooh I haven't had a sit down rat shoot for a long time.

Well done [BANNED TEXT],glad your seek is doing the goods for you ,and dont worry about dumb Foxes i shot 1 in Sussex my [BANNED TEXT] hand called as U/D described and he came in from about 200 yds down to 60 before he met my .243 again that was a Pheasant shoot but dry as a bone rather than Glastonbury swamp style.
