Underdog 2,337
After work I returned to a place I stalked a fox in the dark a few weeks ago but heavy drizzle ruined it! Soaked rifle, scope and glasses prevented a shot at short range. Last week I missed another fox but connected on another but not ideal! What has that got to do with tonight? Well I made another bad shot tonight! It's ok, soon ended but the vixen ended up in water so it's not a pretty site! Hmmm, I better check zero, this is not normal! Sure enough, low and left and no grouping! This rifle when I got it shot badly. The bedding is very poor. I added some pads and hey presto shot nice tight groups. So when I got home I checked the bedding and it looks like the stock has given way just at the contact points. I have added leather pads now but fear that is a mistake but at least I can test it tomorrow to confirm my suspicion! Always something going on..... U. Underdog 2,337
Thanks, I got to the bottom of it now. The stock on my cz452 is terrible for the receiver and I soon learnt that sitting the action on pads to lift it out the stock and give the barrel more clearance it snugged my groups down a treat. Well it turns out the pads had sunk into the timber so I made some new ones from hard full kip leather and hey presto normal service has returned. 100 yds rested but shot quickly. Remington 40 gen hp lower right. Remington 33grn V max upper left. U. Quote Link to post
