Hello Dear Members,

At this unusual early period of March I walk around the local woodlands, mainly in order to watch the male Woodcock (Roding), a type of mating flight to attract females. I carry straight through to the month of May when the elusive Nightjars come back on the breeding grounds, the males always arrives on the breeding grounds before the Female.

Like I promised, if certain people pm myself and wants to come and see them then of course they are welcome. I know the woods well and just a few years back one of my brothers Russell got onto a scent and at first just milling about when he got full on, and suddenly connected with what I thought to be a large Ginger cat, However, with a little good look and the finding abilities of my brothers Russell the dog had nailed a large sized cub.

The cub had been hunting long a forestry commission fence and knowing that it could make it to the fence he started to go for it, but with the Terrier on his heels the fox was doomed. The Terrier soon made short work of the fox. ;You never know what's in store!

Also Hobbies are breeding within the vicinity and so too are the rare Woodlark. So really there is enough of different species to watch and study.

So any genuine people who are interested this year, just drop myself a line.

I've been going in these woods for years and I know every landowner and forester. 'Like to be 100 per cent organised in whatever I do, the same of course for the same with many people on here.
