First I have heard of it, but a good guess would be the poles were just not up to the job.

Yep as tiercel stated the poles couldn't handle the job .....

Yeah, I remember now, a few lads gave them a go, didnt last long. Seem to remember there was a report that one of them type of poles snapped instantly after a rabbit hitting the net close to the pole. First rabbit too if I remember right.

Use hazel poles, cost nowt and do the job.
