Non Ped Or Kc

Recommended Posts

I raced whippets a few years back peds not show type racing peds a non ped would beat them every time and they are a lot harder will take a good bump

at what distance? not here to disagree but a ped will keep running on when a non ped is spent i found

Have access to a non ped racing champion and a kc registered whippet, which would you use at stud? My bitch is kc coursing bred whippet x non ped whippet.

You haven't said what your end game is ?

Obviously,..a specialist bred, Non-Ped will be the master on the track....in fact, nothing can touch these superlative speedsters over their prefered distance. I've had plenty,.they are fabulous , unique critters and if a hare rises in front of them,...they will usualy spin it over in double quick time..

But,.for roustabout lurcher work,....I would now go for the Pedigree, KC style, 'working whippet'..

They don't have, the pleasing Greyhound look of the old style Rag Dogs,..or the muscular development of the early Staffordshire Bull terrier inclusion,..but, the broad chested type of 'working whippet' seems to throw a better foot and a more sturdy bone conformation.... Never thought I would think like this..... :hmm:

To keep it short and sweet if I were you and intended to breed a tidy sort for Lamping I'd use the non ped, boot on other peg if it was mooching and ferreting I wanted a puppy for I'd most likely use the kc dog. Personal preference of course has the biggest influence on the decision

I would not let the inclusion of more speed be the main factor in your goal ,lots more ta a good field whippet than that the ability ta stay sound stick to its game when running instead of constantly over running I seen lots field whippets work both ped and non ped and the very best were a twix between the 2 .atb bunnys.
