Wolfdog91 6,250
Recently got my Benjamin Maximus in .22 . It's probably 30 in my collection but my first PCP so I was curious what's the best way to clean the barrel ? Some say a pull through while others say a one piece fiberglass rod. Also is it OK to use Hoppes #9 solvent in my air rifles in general ? Thanks ! Quote Link to post
philpot 4,927
Hoppes is quite aggressive and might cause issues with the 'O' ring in the breech assuming there is a seal there. Quite a few guys in the UK use Napier Power Airgun oil which is more gentle on seals. Problem with a cleaning rod is that you have to go in from the muzzle on a PCP which pushes any dirt / particles into the breech / mag area AND could easily damage the seal. Pull through with soft cloth patches or cleaning pellets is the way to go. Phil Edited December 10, 2016 by philpot 1 Quote Link to post
grizzlyadams 13
plus 1 on the pull through method. eliminates the possibility of damaging the muzzle Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,549
Clean the barrel of a brand new gun, find your chosen pellet between cleans and there on, leave it be. Should you change to another brand of pellet,- clean the barrel and leave alone again. Should a loss of accuracy occur,- clean the barrel. atb 1 Quote Link to post
