Infected Nail

Recommended Posts

I wouldnt think running him on hard ground would cause infection in the nail roots. Clean his feet after work using either salt /water or a weak disenfectant/water mix keep an old tooth brush to clean around the nails, and dont allow dogs to stand on wet flloors. In the mean while two drops of pure teatree oil in a half litre of water and dip his feet a couple of times a day.

I lost most of last season to an infected nail bed which then got into the toe bone... My fault, but that's another story.

Long story short, in and out of vets, weeks of antibiotics, money money money..

Do yourself a favour and get the vet to do a swab sample, get it sent off to a lab so they can prescribe the correct antibiotics. Then just buy the prescription from them and buy the antibiotics online..

Last thing you want is to be filling the dog with the wrong antibiotics for weeks while the infection gets worse. If it gets into the toe bones it'll be your season over..
