Lil'gun Or H110?

Recommended Posts

When I've got through this PPU ammo, I'll be using the cases and 35gr v-max to reload for my 22 hornet.

I've seen some of you use Lil'Gun and some use H110, so I'll be going with one of those, but what are the pros and cons of each? Does the pressure difference make any odds?

Any advice much appreciated.

Right mate, using h110 produces quite hot loads in the hornet, although it does work superbly,PPU brass is rather thick, so I think you may find that you will not get a lot of 110 in before you are approaching over pressure loads, I would suggest using lil gun with your PPU brass, to be quite honest, it is very hard to get enough lilgun into a hornet case to produce an over pressure load, it produces such low pressures for the velocity it provides, so I would deffo say try ligun mate, oh and Walshie,do spend the extra and get the Lee factory crimp die, it is a must with hornet re loading in my experience, and to produce the very best rounds you can, the Lee universal case flare die, to very gently flare the neck to allow better seating of the generally flat based hornet bullets, another cheap but remarkably effective item in the hornet reloaders arsenal good luck mate.

Definitely Lil Gun.

I've tried both in mine and Lil Gun has proven to be the best. 35 & 40gr V-Max loads prefer 12.5g. I'd give the 35gr V-Max a wide birth unless your shooting will be predominantly sub 120 yards. Upto 100 yards though, they are great.

As has been said, no pressure issues, even with a full case. As a result, your brass will last longer too.

I found the 35 grain vmax to be pretty good the longest shot on a fox was if memory serves about 180 yards, however the one that really shined in my hornet was the Sierra 45grain hornet varminter, it was superbly accurate and really held its flat trajectory far better than I would have imagined, and dropped foxes like a light switch going out.
