Bit of advise please ppl and opinions wanted what age would you introduce a drop rabbit to a lurcher pup as my dogs are 5 month old and haven't yet seen a live rabbit they have had dead ones cheers atb

The best of lurchers ive owned earnt their stripes with some dubious practices. The facts are that id not advocate anyone to sink to the level that some do to introduce a runner at its quarry, ive never introduced a lurcher to early, ive often introduced them when the practice of introduction would make many folk shudder at the lengths ive sunk to.Ive sunk to sewer levels to introduce a reluctant enterer.Id leave any sapling until it was at least 7 months of age and then spend every working hour introducing it.If a dubious practice was the best way to educate a reluctant student id be dubious,id not take any comfort from it,until the mutt learnt.

what did a dropped rabbit teach your dogs morton.?

What a bunny tasted like, the best lessons a lurcher ever learns is the second one.The first lesson a lurcher needs is an easy one,if it needs 2 easy lessons its a cull.I deplore any sort of hunting activity that does not give the quarry more than a fair chance of escape and the best days hunting have more escapees than captures,to moi.Id still sink to sewer levels to to become more acceptable even to myself.

are you saying your best lurchers were reluctant at entering.i think most people who drop rabbits know really that there much to young to work but there young, stupid and inpatient and want to see what the dog would do with a live rabbit so they can go and tell there mates that there dog has caught at whatever age..

The only thing im saying is that id sink to the level of a sewer rat to educate a lurcher.Im not of a disposition that id frown at any practice that benefits a mutts intro into the field. If the sapling wants hard education ill take the fecking thing to Oxford or Cambridge,if it warrants Bolton or Wrexham Open university ill allow its education to drop to the level that best meets its needs.Id not educate a reluctant student.

like lots of the lads say dropping rabbits for pups and breaking paws on them to make them easier to catch, totally illegal and needless cruelty, just wait for pups to mature, and give them good honest r

It's illegal mate.

when someone on here lamped there mutt at 4/5 months, trigger i think people were saying thats the way to do it and kissing his arse.if your face fits, your face fits.
