Unusual Roadkill.

Recommended Posts

They're around south Manchester as well. They we're flying around whalley range cricket ground shouting their heads off when I was playing there last summer.

Wonder if they have a use and may drive magpies away as they seem very aggressive and bold. If they were to do that and not predate songbirds themselves then I wouldn't be adverse to seeing a few about.

Obviously they have fallen victim to the prey drive of the 101st airgun brigade at some point  I dread to think what those pictures were like, a green parakeet held up by a 48 year old fork lift

My mate got one with his catapult today,he gets quite a few.

There are loads of them in Kent and Essex , the fruit farmers hate the bloody things ..they are on the general licence along with the monk parakeet ..which apparently are worse than the ring neck for

I may be wrong but I think I read somewhere last year that they have started granting licences to shoot em, as well as there being loads of em I think they may Nick woodpecker nests for themselves, interesting fact coming up, they apparently escaped from the film set of African queen, the old Humphrey bogart movie back in the 50s and have been on the increase ever since, bloody immigrants

They take over Nuthatch nests and compete with them for food so probably affect their numbers.

They should be wiped out like grey squirrels and all the other invasive species.

It's Gulls round here - there's 1 old bag that feeds them - she feeds foxes, pigeons, rats, feckin everything.

We get a swarm of Gulls in the morning and the evening - they shit everywhere.

Most of them are black backed Gulls - I'm praying for them to nest on my property and become a pain in the arse :chair:

Big population of parakeets here also. Unusually I hardly see road kill on Belgian roads. I suppose the absence of a big rabbit population & a lack of thousands of commercial pheasants is one reason.....

I think the only thing that would work on this lot is a machine gun battery set up on my lawn

They look way larger than a nuthatch Nick.....never seen one so only guessing.....would they use the same holes ? (And yes I know nuthatch make theirs smaller ...) ??

I read somewhere that a study had been done on in their impact on other birds, this isn't the one I read but I just found it.

When you have one in your hand they have a body size a little bigger than a starling,if they did use nuthatch holes it would be easy for them to open the entrance, there was a lesser spotted woodpeckers nest a few years back in the next street, the following year it had a parakeet nesting in it.
