New Barrel On 223

Just wondering whats the going rate to have a 223 rebarreled? And what barrel would you recommend? Thanks

Between £500-£1500 depending on the barrel

 

Personally I'd get a Walther or Shilen barrel but others are good Begarra go some great hunting barrels.

Slipper/WW you should be able to get a quality barrel treaded, proofed and fitted for £750. Steve Kershaw (top quality work) is in Howden, Yorkshire if you wanted to make the trip.

Depends on the donor rifle/action if you have a decent chassis ie Heym, Mauser or similar it would be worth re barrelling.

But a clapped out CZ or Remy maybe not so.

Around 700 fitted, chambered proofed etc.

Not if you want a top flight carbon fibre barrel it won't the barrel trade is over £750.

I have a 22-250 here that has a bore like a sewer pipe. A bit of rust and pitting on the exterior too. Not likely it ever had any corrosive ammo fired in it. Most likely zipped up in a case dirty and stored somewhere damp. I think I read somewhere the carbon in the bore can absorb moisture from the air.

I make a habit of leaving cases unzipped a bit, and I've still had a couple of 'surprises' taking a wet rifle out of them. Never any damage fortunately.
