I am sure there must be a website or Two , where Gun shops advertise their guns for sale without buyers having to trawl through each site individualy?

Who's going to tell me where to look?

 

I am looking for a Fabarm Laporte OU shotgun. Any help would be great.

Ok...they tend to be Agricultural, unreliable and don't hold their value well.

Always a difficult one this because no doubt loads of people will come back and say mine is great and never let me down (well maybe one or two might). It is a personal choice and by way of new guns there isn't really a BAD one out there, even a lot of what is coming out of Turkey offers excellent value for money these days, there are just some that are not as good as others..

 

If you can, look at Beretta, Remington, Miroku, Browning. (Miroku own Browning)

 

My personal choice would be the biggest Shot gun manufacturer in the world, Beretta but close behind Miroku.

Definatly look at guntrader.co.uk; when you click on the left link to search guns, half way down the page is a link to the "older" style search facility, use this as its much easier.

 

Also worth a try are Avalon Guns in Street, pretty good list on their site but if you cant find what you want ring Andy (Whitmore) and chat through your requirements with him.

 

Ditto above re manufacturers. If your budget will make it a Beretta in the choise of most, followd by Browning. That said the majority of Italian made guns are made to the same pattern as the Beretta, its an old Breda design which Beretta bought. Lincoln, Bettinsoli, Cesar Gurrini to name a few all make what is esentially the same gun for (usually) less money dependant on model.

 

I've two Beretta, a Browning and a Miroku, as well as a Westley Richards for game, and in my experiance the Beretta "design" is one of the best around. If you want to know more read a few reviews by Mike Yardley in the sporting press. Even the older Beretta models (686, 56E etc) of the same style are still great buys and going strong and should be found for around £500 in good cond.

You're right though, about the value declining pretty swiftly after purchase.

But I bought my old Fabarm gamma lux II for small money, tidied it up a bit and have shot well with it ever since.

 

I don't think I'd buy a Fabarm new though, if I was going to upgrade my clay gun I would be thinking of Beretta, one of the old type 682 sporters or a new 687 sporter.

Cheers Macnas...taken in the spirit my comments were intended....I did actually have one many moons back..it rattled, was loose as they come and to be honest frightened me to death (oh yes...it looked like a piece of farm machinery as well, wish I could remember the model), but to be fair it worked! I run 3 Berettas at the moment, so I'm a bit biased but I have to say I do like the Miroku. Whoever would have though the Japs would be able to make a shot gun?

Try Avalon guns they have a good selection of second hand air rifles, rifles and shotguns. You can search by make/calibre/style etc.
